May 24, 2003 to May 28, 2003 -- KLAMATH RIVER WATERSHED WEEK OF DAY HIKES AND CAR CAMPING
Join us for any part of this Memorial Day week excursion. We will visit ancient forests, sacred mountains, old wildfires and swimming holes in potential additions to the Siskiyou, Trinity Alps, and Marble Mountain Wildernesses. Meet Sat. 5/24 at the Northcoast Environmental Center in Arcata or join along the way.


May 24, 2003 -- Red Cap Trail TRINITY ALPS WILDERNESS PROPOSED ADDITION
Meet Saturday May 24 8am Northcoast Environmental Center 575 H. St. Arcata. We will drive beyond Hoopa and up Big Hill Road to Red Cap Trail. Explore Ancient Forest that was burned in the Big Bar Fire and in natural recovery. Learn about the threat of salvage logging on this 5 mile hike thru proposed wilderness additions into Trinity Alps Wilderness. Camp Saturday night high in the Siskiyous. Just south of Orleans turn left on the Eyesee Road USFS 15N01 and up 27 miles to Forks of Blue Trailhead marked on the left, our Sunday morning trailhead.


May 25, 2003 -- Upper Forks of Blue Creek Trail SISKIYOU WILDERNESS PROPOSE
This 9 hour hike begins Sunday at 8am from the Upper Forks of Blue trailhead, our Saturday night campsite. Hike down Forks of Blue trail to East Fork Blue Creek and uphill to car shuttle includes lunch and rest stops. Grand vistas of Trinities and Marbles, forested East Fork Blue Creek in the foreground. Healthy Port Orford Cedar, diverse old growth, great swimming holes. We will camp Sunday night at the Upper Forks of Blue Creek Trailhead, same spot as on Saturday night.


May 26, 2003 -- Orleans Mountain TRINITY ALPS WILDERNESS PROPOSED ADDITION
We will travel with respect in this area sacred to the Karuk. Orleans Mountain is one of the peaks in the sacred high country and provides spectacular views all over northwest California and even to Mount Shasta. After the hike we will drive north on Highway 96 along the Klamath River to Dillon Creek. Camp Monday night at Dillon Creek Campground.


May 27, 2003 -- Dillon Creek SISKIYOU WILDERNESS PROPOSED ADDITION
The Dillon Creek Trailhead is at the Dillon Creek Campground. This area is recovering from a 1990 fire, and excellent opportunity to see a recovering wild land. Camp Tuesday night at the Dillon Creek Campground on Highway 96.


May 28, 2003 -- Grider Creek MARBLE MOUNTAIN WILDERNESS PROPOSED ADDITION
Meet 9am Dillon Creek Campground to drive to our trailhead. Hike the Pacific Crest Trail thru ancient forest along lush Grider Creek, an important connectivity corridor.


June 1, 2003 -- MOUNT LASSIC PROPOSED WILDERNESS
This native plant paradise offers Pine and Cedar forests, sweeping views of the coast, Trinity Alps and Yolla Bolly Mountains. Meet Northcoast Environmental Center 8am, rendezvous at the Dinsmore Store and Gas Station 10am.


June 2, 2003 -- MAD RIVER BUTTES POTENTIAL WILDERNESS
A day hike only one and a half hours from Arcata. Mad River Buttes offers beautiful White fir forests, dramatic geology and great views over central Humboldt County. Meet Northcoast Environmental Center 8:30 am. Leader Nancy Ihara 707/442-1676.


June 14, 2003 to June 15, 2003 -- A WEEKEND IN THE SOUTH FORK EEL PROPOSED WILDERNESS
Join us for one or both of these dayhikes and carcamp in these Bureau of Land Management stewarded wildlands in northern Mendocino County.


June 14, 2003 -- Cahto Peak SOUTH FORK EEL PROPOSED WILDERNESS
We will walk along Black Oak Trail to Stoughton opening and beyond. After the hike we will drive to our Sunday morning trailhead on Elkhorn Ridge. Meet 8am at the Laytonville Post Office.


June 15, 2003 -- Elkhorn Ridge - SOUTH FORK EEL PROPOSED WILDERNESS
We will hike down to the South Fork Eel River and spend the day hiking or just relaxing.


November 2, 2003 -- MOUNT LASSIC PROPOSED WILDERNESS
